Thank  you for your interest in Olivia Pottery. Olivia Pottery is
handmade in our rural South Mississippi studio, on a hill in the historic
Felder's Campground community near Summit, MS.  All pottery is made
by me, Olivia McCullough with the help and support of my husband and
best friend Jim.

Our small diverse community is named for a historic Methodist
campground and Tabernacle on the banks of Topisaw Creek.   The
campground has one of the last remaining open air tabernacles. Camp
Meetings date back to horse and buggy days.

Small rustic cabins with front porches form a horseshoe around the
Tabernacle and sprawling tree filled campus.  The cabins are passed on
from generation to generation.  The revival runs for two weeks each
summer, however families from all over the country begin arriving weeks
ahead of time.   Folks vacation in the cabins with children swimming
and fishing in the creek.  The aroma of good southern cooking is always
in the air.  Some of my husband's favorite childhood memories include
working at the refreshment stand operated by his Grandfather, serving
cones of ice cream and bottles of soda pop.

It's such a lovely spot my husband and I were married there some
twenty  years ago.    The wedding was the first (possibly the only) in the
area to have a Catholic priest preform a wedding outside the church.

One of our main interest is rescuing stray and abandoned dogs. So we
have a large four legged family at any given time. If you ever need a
new pet we are the ones to call. "Big or small, we got 'em all!  Please
remember to spay and neuter. And don't forget to donate to your local
animal shelter.

Olivia Pottery is hand made English stoneware. The hand painted
glazes and the high fire process combine to give Olivia Pottery it's
distinct and unique look.   No two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each
piece is completed from start to finish by the Artisan.

Stoneware is extremely durable and chip resistant.  Olivia Pottery is
safe to use in the dishwasher, oven, microwave, freezer and refrigerator.
I do not recommend taking it directly from freezer to hot oven.

The first and still the most popular color is Chocolate Bark. It's rich
brown woodsy tones are reminiscent of the country surrounding my
childhood home.  Why Chocolate Bark? It is a combination of names to
honor my mother's famous chocolate pies and my father's love of tall
graceful  trees. The country roots of Olivia Pottery are also reflected in
the animal or critter collection the line offers.  You can choose from six
nature based colors in dinnerware, serving, and utilitarian pieces.
There are several other colors  to choose from in decorative items.

I grew up as an only child.  My mother was the ultimate overprotective
parent.  She did not allow me the joy of making mud pies,  playing out
of her sight, or walking in the rain.   I was a sickly child and our family
doctor once told my mother that the only thing really wrong with me is
I needed to play and get dirty.  Now as a middle aged adult I just love
the feeling of mud squishing  through my fingers and wearing my clay
proudly as I work.  Oh what fun it is to make something wonderful from
dirt!
